Dr. Jennifer Huynh completed her Medical Degree and Internal Medicine residency at Western University, followed by Endocrinology and Metabolism fellowship at McMaster University in June 2018. 

Dr. Huynh has privileges at the Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital providing inpatient consultations and is affiliated with the Halton Diabetes Program. Her private practice is in Oakville, ON. 

Dr. Huynh remains involved with postgraduate medical education as an Assistant Clinical Professor (Adjunct) through McMaster University.

Practice Areas

 

Diabetes

Dr. Huynh treats adult patients with diabetes. In addition to the care provided by Dr. Huynh, you may be referred to a diabetes education program to learn from other health care providers such as nurses and dietitians. In addition, she has a special interest in diabetes in pregnancy and provides preconception counseling for patients with pre-existing diabetes.

She hopes to empower you to make the changes you need to improve your diabetes or motivate you to maintain good glucose levels.


 

General Endocrine

Dr. Huynh sees patients with various endocrinology problems. This includes thyroid disease and thyroid cancer, adrenal and pituitary disease and endocrine hypertension. Her practice also includes management of issues such as PCOS, hirsutism and low testosterone.


 

Transgender Medicine

Dr. Huynh has expanded her practice to encompass transgender medicine, including gender affirming hormone therapy. A prior diagnosis of gender dysphoria is not a requirement for referral. Dr. Huynh will use her discretion if an additional assessment for gender dysphoria is required. 

Dr. Huynh has completed the Transition Related Surgery Assessment training course through Rainbow Health Ontario and will apply for OHIP funding on behalf of the patient. Her goal is to provide local, comprehensive care to the transgender and gender diverse community in the Halton region.


Medical Education

Dr. Huynh is actively involved in Medical Education. She provides educational presentations for the McMaster Internal Medicine, Endocrinology and Surgery postgraduate programs. She is the supervisor for the Oakville community rotation for the McMaster Endocrinology program and is a member of the residency planning committee (RPC) and competency committee. Dr. Huynh also provides regular Quality Improvement rounds for the hospitalist group at the Oakville Hospital.
